Canadian Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative: 2009
The “Children’s Initiative” represents the commitment of 19 of Canada’s leading food and beverage
advertisers to responsible advertising to children.
ASC administers the initiative and reports on company compliance. The 2009 compliance report is
now available on our website.

ASC’s New PSA
ASC’s public awareness program helps to communicate the advertising industry’s commitment to truth,
fairness and accuracy. Stay tuned for our new PSA, “Truth in Advertising Matters,” to be launched this fall.
The multimedia campaign was developed for ASC by the People from Cossette, who generously donated their time and talent.
Advertising Standards Canada (ASC) is the national not-for-profit advertising industry self-regulatory body
committed to creating and maintaining community confidence in advertising. ASC administers the Canadian Code of
Advertising Standards, the principal instrument of advertising self-regulation in Canada, and a national
mechanism for accepting and responding to consumers’ complaints about advertising. ASC members include
leading advertisers, advertising agencies, and media organizations.
