Prepared for Advertising Standards Canada by The Gandalf Group
November 16, 2011
On behalf of Advertising Standards Canada, the Gandalf Group conducted research with Canadian and American
adults to understand public impressions of advertising and advertising standards. Data was collected through
two online surveys, one in Canada and one in the US. In Canada, the survey was conducted in English and French
with 1,378 adult respondents, between September 23 and October 3, 2011. The sample of adults was nationally
proportionate based on region, age and gender using a probability based sample from a panel of randomly selected
adults. The US survey was conducted with a sample of 800 adults, nationally proportionate based on region, age
and gender. It was conducted from September 23 to 29, 2011.
